Improved xkcd Tech Support Flowchart
While I applaud the sentiment behind this tech support cheat sheet/flowchart on xkcd, I feel it has several flaws:
- if you find one menu item or button that looks related to what you want to do, you just end up trying that item/button repeatedly for half an hour;
- if you can't find a related item/button, your random searching is constantly interrupted with re-attempting to find a related item/button;
- the random search is inefficient, because you may end up trying the same item/button more than once; and
- the Google-searching phase is unclear as to where you find the actual instructions, and is subject to similar interruptions and inefficiencies as the random search phase.
Here's my new improved version:

Some observations
- Flowcharts are aren't great at representing stack-like structures.
- OmniGraffle is fun.
